Andorra

Sant Julià de Lòria

Sant Julià de Lória est la plus méridionale des sept Paroisses d'Andorre. Elle offre au visiteur un ensemble de paysages montagneux variés.

La Paroisse regorge de trésors de l'art Roman comme, par exemple, l'église de Sant Cerni de Nagol ou celle de Sant Miquel de Fontaneda. Un véritable paradis pour les amateurs d'art et d'histoire.

Le Centre Culturel et de Congrès Lauredià propose toute l'année des manifestations Culturelles.

La station de La Rabassa offre de merveilleuses étendues sillonnées de pistes de ski de fond.
Le stand de tir de La Rabassa est considéré comme l'un des meilleurs d'Europe. Les amateurs de tir au pigeon et de tir à l'arc y trouveront leur bonheur.

L'été, la station de La Rabassa offre aux touristes de nombreuses activités de sport en plein air.

Sant Julià de Lòria

Situated in the southernmost tip of Andorra is the parish of Sant Julia de Loria. This less frequented corner of Andorra provides a tranquil setting away from the hustle and bustle of Andorra’s major downhill ski resorts. The area is blessed with some spectacular mountain scenery and if you are looking for that mountain experience, unspoilt by an invasion of ski lifts, cable cars and other mechanical equipment then this is the place for you.

The Madriu Valley is particularly stunning. This dramatic glacial landscape of craggy cliffs, high open pastures and steep wooded valleys was provided UNESCO world heritage status in 2004. As well as the natural landscape the valley features houses, terraced fields, stone tracks and evidence of iron smelting, providing a perspective of the way people have lived and harvested the rugged mountain terrain of the high Pyrenees over the ages.

The La Rabassa nature reserve is set between 1400m and 2160m elevation and provides the ideal winter setting for the 15km of cross country skiing. Known as ‘Naturlandia’ the whole family can be entertained here as there is a wide choice of activities including sledging, a children’s snow garden, dog sled rides and snowshoe trails. The highly impressive ‘Camp de Tir’ firing range provides the ideal setting to enjoy a spot of rifle shooting and archery whilst enjoying panoramic views over the Andorran peaks. In summer there are numerous walks in the area to enjoy the landscape as well as mountain trails ideal for mountain biking and horse riding.

If you want to escape the outdoors for a day then why not visit the Museu del Tabac. The museum is based in the Old Reig Tobacco factory building which operated from 1909 to 1957 and explains the manufacture of tobacco products from initial harvesting through to the finished article. The permanent tobacco exhibition is normally accompanied by a temporary exhibition which has been dedicated to such greats as Rembrandt and Picasso as well as more local themes such as a through the lens photo display of Andorra through the ages.

Sant Julià de Lòria

Sant Julià de Lòria is een stad in het zuiden van Andorra. Tegelijk is de parochie (gemeente) met die zelfde naam de zuidelijkste parochie van het vorstendom. Ze grenst aan de parochies Andorra la Vella en Escaldes-Engordany, én aan Spanje. In 2002 telde de stad 7785 inwoners.

Verder behoren tot de parochie Sant Julià de Lòria de volgende kleine dorpen: Aixovall, Bissisarri, Fontaneda, Auvinyà, Aixirivall, Juberri, Nagol, Certers, La Margineda, Mas d'Alins, Bordes De La Peguera, Els Plans en Llumeneres. In totaal telde de totale parochie in 2002 8313 inwoners.

Voor de wintersporttouristen is met name het langlaufen in de regio van belang.

Het voetbalteam van Matecosa UE Sant Julià de Lòria werd in het seizoen 2004-'05 landskampioen van Andorra door de Lliga de Primera Divisió winnend af te sluiten.

Ordino

Ordino is de meest noordelijke parochie in Andorra en telt zo'n 3000 inwoners en ligt aan de voet van de Pic de Casamanya. De parochie heeft een oppervlakte van 89,3 km². De gelijknamige hoofdstad ligt op een hoogte van 1300 meter boven zeeniveau en telt 1953 inwoners (2004).

Naast Ordino liggen er in het Ordinodal ook de dorpen Segudet, Sornàs, Ansalonga, La Cortinada, Arans, Llorts en El Serrat.

Ordino-Arcalis

Ordino, known as the Garden of Andorra is a town full of Pyrenean character. The houses built from local rough stone and slate roofs offer a rugged charm synonymous with the Pyrenees. Behind Ordino two of Andorra’s highest peaks; Estanyo (2915m) and Casamanya (2740m) dominate the landscape and enhance the area’s natural beauty and historic charm.

In the centre of Ordino, noticeable for its long wrought iron balcony is the ‘Casa de Areny-Plandolit’. This is the former house of the noble Andorran Areny-Plandolit family who gave several rulers to the country during the 17th and 19th centuries and it now serves as an interesting museum. The 12th century church is worth visiting for its two wooden virgins and the Christ on the crucifix added in the 17th century. Further up the valley lies the remains of the castle ‘Castillo de los Moros’ and along the North Valira river valley the ‘Sornas’ prehistoric inscriptions can be found followed by the church at La Cortinada, famed for its 11th century brightly coloured murals.

14km from the town of Ordino nestled in the high wild peaks that serve as the border with France is the Arcalis ski sector, recognizable by the huge circular metal sculpture perched on the cliff above the station. Now a part of the Vallnord mountain park this is Andorra’s hidden gem. Challenging terrain and an excellent snow record make this compact ski area a delight offering long cruising blue runs through to steep, challenging blacks and extensive, lift-served off-piste terrain.

In summer the Arcalis sector of the Vallnord mountain park offers an exciting mix of canyoning, cross country and downhill mountain biking, Via ferrata and guided walks to enhance the areas image as a true all year round destination.
